Turn Google Play on or off for users

If you're an ambassador of Google Accounts for an arrangement, you lot tin can control who uses Google Play from their business relationship. Merely plow the service on or off for those people in your Admin console. People for whom you turn on Google Play can apply it to download and purchase mobile content and apps in their accounts.

Users who have Google Play turned off retain limited access to the service, as described in the side by side section.

Important: For Google Play to work properly, Additional services without individual control should be On.

What happens when Google Play is off

If you turn off Google Play for users in your system, expect the following:

  • Users that Google Play is turned off for tin can't download or buy whatever new content from Google Play, with the post-obit exceptions:
    • Content and apps that were previously downloaded remain on their devices and go along to receive updates.
    • Users under advanced mobile management can still download managed apps made available past the administrator to  managed devices.
  • If a user switches to a new device, any previously downloaded content is available for download to the new device using the same business relationship.
  • If users have other Google Accounts on their devices, such every bit a personal account, they might exist able to use Google Play with those accounts.

Control who uses Google Play

Earlier you begin: To plow a service on or off for certain users, put their accounts in an organizational unit (to command access by section) or add them to an access group (to allow access for users across or within departments).

  1. From the Admin console Domicile page, get to Apps and then Additional Google services.

  2. Click Google Play.

    Tip: Scroll to see all services. Or at the left, cull a Filter to narrow the list. For instance, filter past condition or popularity.

  3. ClickService condition.
  4. To turn on or off a service for anybody in your organization, clickOn for everyone orOff for everyone, and so clickSave.

  5. (Optional) To turn a service on or off for an organizational unit of measurement:

    1. At the left, select the organizational unit of measurement.
    2. To change the Service condition, selectOn orOff.
    3. Cull 1:
      • If the Service status is set toInherited and you desire to proceed the updated setting, even if the parent setting changes, click Override.
      • If the Service status is fix toOverridden, either click Inherit to revert to the aforementioned setting equally its parent, or clickSave to go along the new setting, even if the parent setting changes.
